These past few months have really been busy ones for the fishfarm! Ken has taken a two-week trip to southeast Asia, visiting discus hatcheries in group organized by Bing Seto. He had a great time, brought back some incredible fish, and met some fascinating people! Then, having barely recovered from that trip, he and the girls were off to the 2001 ACA Convention in Per... Perskip... Pership... somewhere in New Jersey! They had a great time, despite the temporary misplacement of our oldest daughter on Ellis Island! Ken said he and Becca looked for her - in between taking pictures, etc. Fortunatly, they were reunited by the security folks there - none the worse for the adventure!
The highlight of their trip was the excellent placing of Ken's show fish. He came home laden with trophies and plaques, justifiably proud of two first place trophies, a second, and and third. He also sold more fish than he bought this year - a sign that he is learning restraint (or growing tired of listening to me when he gets home!).
The girls played tourist - got lots of great pictures and saw the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. In view of the events of 9/11, I'm so glad they got to make the trip when they did...
I'm back among the "gainfully employed" - for those who had to listen to my tales of woe during April and May - as the coordinator of the University of Georgia's Monoclonal Antibody Facility. Toot tooot - that's me blowing my own small horn. Of course, that doesn't excuse the lack of fresh fishwife material. I'll have to fall back on that explanation, though! I do have a newsletter to put out monthly for my new job, and that DOES take a little time. Feel free to ask for a subscription - if you have an uncontrollable interest in the manufacture of monoclonal antibodies. Not really absorbing reading otherwise...
Well, I have to get Ken's new discus pictures live on the web page, so I'd better stop the verbage and get busy. Yes, that's me - very busy, must stay busy, I'm late, I'm late, for a very important - oh, who am I kidding? Gotta go put up the page. 'Til next time...
